Our History
In 1958, Jay's grandfather, Warren Myers, opened a Gulf Oil gas & service station (and later Union Oil in 1978) that resided at 320 E. Wooster (where Taco Bell is now). Bill Sockman began working for Warren in 1958 and his brother, Tom, joined them in 1964. Bill and Tom then opened Sockman Automotive in 1981 at 425 Ridge St. Finally, in March of 1993, they moved their business one final time to its current location at 425 Grant St. Both Bill and Tom have since retired and their sons have taken over the business.
